BookCon: Help Us Bring Open Book Chocolates to NYC!

G. E. Gallas

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that we — Open Book Chocolates — are going to be vendors at BookCon 2026 (Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th) at the Javits Center in New York City!!!!!

This has been in the works since November, and we’re so excited to finally be able to share the news. BookCon will be Open Book Chocolates’ biggest in-person event to date.

As a graduate of New York University: Gallatin School of Individualized Study, it’s always a treat to visit “The Big Apple.” I’ve been to the Javits Center once before — for BookExpo America in 2015 (when I was a student at NYU’s Summer Publishing Institute, learning about the ins and outs of the publishing industry). At that time, the sheer size of Javits was overwhelming. I never dreamed I’d return someday as a vendor!

For the past few months, we’ve been working very hard to organize all the intricate details for this event. (And it’s been that much more complicated because I’ve been busy finalizing all the details for my early-April wedding.) Between the vendor fee, shipping costs, travel costs, and everything in between, our expenses are adding up fast. We truly appreciate any and all support leading up to Saturday, April 18th.

How You Can Help Us:

Please find below four ways you can help Open Book Chocolates bring our literary-inspired craft chocolate bars to BookCon 2026!

1) Support us by placing an order on our online store, openbookchocolates.com/shop!

Is there a bibliophile in your life with an upcoming birthday? Want to get a head start on Easter (Sunday, April 5th) and/or Mother’ Day (Sunday, May 10th)? Want to thank your favorite librarian or your children’s favorite teacher? Just want an excuse to treat yourself to a literary-inspired chocolate bar? Please consider placing an order with us:

2) Support us on GoFundMe!

GoFundMe is a great way to chip in a couple bucks. Every little bit helps. Think of it as a tip jar. 😊

3) Support us by purchasing our brand-new merch on Bonfire!

Bonfire is an online platform that specializes in fundraising through custom apparel and merchandise. Bonfire handles the sourcing, printing, and shipping of all products on their platform.

Through Bonfire, I’ve designed some shirts and mugs with our “Read Books, Eat Chocolate” slogan. I’ve also designed some shirts with the fantastic Jane Austen quote, “obstinate, headstrong girl!”

These shirts come in a variety of colors and sizes (most go up to 2XL or 3XL, some go up to 5XL), so I hope you’ll be able to find something that catches your fancy. If you do order our merch on Bonfire, I would love to see photos! 👀

4) Help us spread the word via social media and by word of mouth!

How to support Open Book Chocolates without spending any money:

  1. Like and share our posts.

  2. Tag a friend.

  3. Comment something nice and/or an emoji.

  4. Post a pic (especially if you purchase something).

  5. Give us a shout-out.

  6. Recommend us to family and friends.
